À PROPOS D’ARTISTE CONNU
He has been creating handmade rugs since 2021.
He was born in Spain, at the back of a bar in Valencia’s Ruzafa district, where he had the chance to weave a friendship with Mulla Nasiruddin and Alejandro Jodorowsky.
Today, his work is exhibited in Spain, France, and Japan.
Artiste Connu spent his youth in Paris. He is the son of Father, an Argentine blacksmith from La Bastille, and Mother, an economics professor at the Collège de France. He is one of three siblings: Big Sister and Little Brother. Artiste Connu studied for five years at the Beaux-Arts in Orléans, France, and in Warsaw, Poland.
At the start of his journey, Artiste Connu earned a modest living working as a cook, a waiter in bars, a team member at Umiam Fast Food, and at Pizou Pizza. He also worked as a decorative sign painter with some members of the Bauhaus and Collectif 47, as well as a screen-printing graphic designer for 15 years.
In 2021, he had the opportunity to reupholster all the furniture of President Valéry Giscard d’Estaing. It was then that he decided to move to Spain and open his tapestry workshop.
